journey: kathamdnu - delhi - kashmir

Hello from Delhi!

The last 2 days I spent on buses and trains.
My exiting journey started in Kathmandu on the 29th June at 7 pm.
I had the choice between a direct bus to Delhi (only 36 hours, 24 Euro), a flight (around 110$ = not my budget) or a combination of bus (to the Indian border) and train (from Gorakpur to Delhi) by far the most complicated but more comfortable then the 36 hours bus.

Unfortunately I spent my last Nepali Rupee on the Taxi to the bus station. Next to me sat a very nice guy who also went to Delhi to visit his sister. His mother cooked him some delicious food that he shared with me. When the bus stopped for dinner he shared also his soup with me and payed for the bus we had to take to the border in the morning. Unfortunately we didn't meet again in Gorakpur as we planned. I was amazed about his generosity and felt shame that I couldn't return the favour. After crossing the border I took a Jeep to Gorkhpur from where my train left in the afternoon. Killing the next 6 hours wasn't a big problem. I spent only 2 hours on the post office trying to send a big parcel back home.
I was a bit excited about my train ride, for the first time I didn't book in advance, so I was hoping to get a seat in the sleeper carriage by paying of the conductor. Unfortunately the train was so full that not even this worked out. A very nice guy, who shared his food with me, offered me however also to share his bed with me. I was amazed by his offer! Although I didn't sleep very well I was very glad about having a bed at all.

In a few hours my netxt train will leave for another overnight journey to Kashmir. Looking forward to the third consecutive night in public transportation ;-)!!
